Today 25th of October, 2023, more than 100 Elderly people benefitted free Drugs, free Blood Testing, Blood Pressure Checkup, Eyes and Teeth check, amongst others, as Ikeja LASUTH Lions Club embarks on a free medical outreach.

 

Speaking on the significance of the gesture, President Ikeja LASUTH Lions Club, Lion Folasade Afolabi said the Club, in partnership with Value Jet Airline, in celebrating the airline’s 365 days of safe flying and quality service delivery, decided to bring free health services to the elderly, as they fall within the vulnerable category in the society.

According to her, bearing the economic hardship in the country, many people most especially the elderly ones are coming down with health issues thus the need to bring health intervention to them to reduce the impact of the pressure in the country at the moment. The Family Planning unit of the Lagos State UniversityTeaching Hospital was instrumental in helping identify the elderly and needy ones in the society


Lion Folasade Afolabi noted that wherever you find a need, the Lions club will bring an aid, she further implore other NGOs to also assist the government in areas where people need. “There are so many basic needs that the government might not provide, I implore other NGOs to take responsibility, to help the government provide for the people, where necessary. We have partnered Value Jet in bringing healthcare to the elderly, this, we have done to commemorate a year anniversary of safe flying and quality service delivery, this will be a continuous exercise,” she said.

The Digital Marketing Officer, Value Jet Airline, Eniola Afolabi, noted that her organization is excited for the opportunity to partner with Ikeja LASUTH Lions Club in bringing a free medical outreach to the people, this she said would be considered again in the future.

The Vice-President of Ikeja LASUTH Lions Club, Lion (Dr) Moruf Abdulsalam noted that their organization is happy to join hands with Value Jet to bring the medical outreach to the elderly. “This was put together in order to commemorate their 365 days of safe flying, while giving quality service to the Nigeria,” he said.
