Lagos State Government has reviewed the administrative procedures for the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas as part of efforts of the current administration to improve service delivery at the Local Government level.
Mrs. Folashade Jaji, Lagos State Head of Service, made this known at a meeting with Executive Secretaries, Council Managers and other stakeholders on the revised guidelines on administrative procedure for Local Government held at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

She stated that the new guidelines will change the face of governance at the local level, improve the management of resources in the various council areas as well as ensure community participation in governance.
According to her, “Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has directed that the 2010 administrative guidelines should be reviewed to bring it in line with the best practices worldwide in community governance under a federal structure such as ours”.
Mrs. Jaji  said some of the new guidelines include the change in designation of Council Manager to Head of Administration; abolition of Special Advisers at the Local Government level and limitation of Technical Department to two while the number of units is also pegged at five in each LGA and LCDA
 
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Jafar Sanuth said that the reviewed guidelines on administrative procedure are part of the State Government reforms to ensure proper accountability and promote cordial relationship between the state and local government administration.
He added that any reform introduced at the state level will be replicated at the Local Government level in order to enhance administrative procedure and staff capacity.
Responding, the Chairman of Conference 57, Mr. Kolade Alabi David commended the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for the initiative and assured him of their cooperation, promising that all the Executive Secretaries will endeavour to implement the reviewed guidelines in their respective Local Government and Local Council Development Areas.
He added that Conference 57 is ready to support and actualize the Governor’s programmes and policies for improving the welfare of Lagosians as well as ensuring that the dividends of democracy is evenly distributed among all residents in the state.
Present at the meeting were top government functionaries both at the state and local government levels.
