In a bid to reducing the rate of unemployment in the country, an imploration has been made to the New government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to equip young professionals with intellectual activities and capacity as it is not just enough to go to the university to learn and earn a degree.
This imploration was made by ‘Lade Adeyemi, a Negotiation expert and specialist who is also an erudite Lawyer and Training and Consultancy expert at First Empire Group.
He mentioned that the government should focus more on building capacity rather than giving promises that are not feasible.
“It’s unfortunate that most graduates do not have the simple mastery of communication as well as salary negotiation, let’s not forget that there is communication in Negotiation and negotiation in communication. I believe that the government should look at creating opportunities from job seekers to job creators. The State government in the same vein, should look into creating more jobs than managing job seekers.
“Negotiation is a skill not just for those in government but for all and sundry. The new government needs to reduce expenditure and maximize what they have. Youths on the other hand need to be equipped with intellectual activities and capacity. It is not enough to go to the University,” Lade said.
According to Adeyemi, the First Empire Group is looking at providing what is called an Artisan Academy. The academy seeks to engage artisans and at the same time sensitize them on how they can use skills to create jobs for themselves. As part of the prospect for First Empire Group, a negotiation academy is also set up to train graduates on the science and acts of negotiations.
First Empire Group is an organization that seeks to help government and non-governmental organisations achieve excellence through negotiations.
The organisation has on board professional members on his team namely; Mr Oganla Oladimeji, an astute economist whose experience cut across companies like – Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Offshore Account and a regional representatives of Reforms Sports, Turkey, a world class Sports Facility company, Mr Odumuyiwa Babatunde, a professional also with vast experience in business, auto sales and livestock trading and Folashade Afilaka, Director Empire Group.
