Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area was abuzz with excitement this afternoon, as the We-Lift program, a community empowerment initiative, was launched. Organized by the Vanguard Newspaper ranked number one Local Government Chairman in Nigeria, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the program aims to support 1,500 market women, elderly individuals, and unemployed youths with a cash grant of N50,000 each.

The program is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy, enabling beneficiaries to establish or grow their businesses, and improve their overall well-being. Chairman Oshinowo emphasized the importance of prioritizing community welfare and pledged to complete a state-of-the-art school in Agboyi, which will set a benchmark for quality education in the Kosofe Local Government Area.

The event was attended by prominent public office holders as well as community leaders,, including Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Iyaloja of Agboyi Ketu Alhaja Obanibashiri, and Olu of Agboyi Land Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega. Senator Abiru commended Chairman Oshinowo for his outstanding leadership and pledged N10 million to support the program, demonstrating the community’s commitment to development and empowerment.

The Stanbic IBTC Bank representative emphasized the importance of effective financial management, urging beneficiaries to save for the future, live within their means, and make informed financial decisions. This initiative is expected to promote financial literacy and stability among community members.

 

The We-Lift program marks a new era of empowerment for the Agboyi-Ketu community, as it seeks to address the socio-economic challenges faced by its residents.
