The former Senator, Lagos East, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora has described the projects commissioning in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA as progressive development.
Mamora made this remarks at the Day 3 of the week-long commissioning of 20 transformational projects across Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Lagos on Wednesday.
Mamora, represented by the council’s former Executive Secretary, Hon. Afolabi Kazeem urged the council chairman that there were several things that still need to be done.
Momora urged the chairman on grassroots sports development which also needs attention in Ikosi-Isheri because the youths like football and all other games.
“We will continue to encourage her, sit her down and advise her on areas that are necessary and needed and support her to do more.
“There are still schools that are still begging for attention, there are still other roads to be done. Though, health centres have already been done but there maybe one or two clinics that still need her attention.
“In all, these projects are very good development, it is a progressive development that she is embarking on. Before now, the roads here are not good but she is attending to them, hospitals that are not good, she is attending to them.
“Making them more beautiful and more accommodating and this is what government is all about and this is very good. We will continue to encourage her and pray that the Almighty God will support her so that she can do more.”
In her opening remarks, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri, Princess Semiat Bada, said the decision to reconstruct five streets came directly from the passionate pleasure from residents of the communities, which they didn’t fall on deaf ears.
Bada said these streets were once a burden — battered by erosion, prone to flooding, and a daily source of
stress, adding that today, they stood renewed — solid, clean, and ready to serve.
She said: “We started earlier today at Oba Onikosi Drive Phases I & II, and now we are here — on Atinmo Street, another community that has seen real change and meaningful intervention.
“We are also commissioning today: Olabisi Balogun Street, Ogunkoya Street and Adeyomoye Street. Each one of these streets tells the same story — a story of responsive governance, deliberate
development, and people-first planning.”
Bada said by the end of this week-long commissioning, 20 projects will have been unveiled to uplift the people, empower the communities, and change the story of Ikosi-Isheri for good.
