Senator Gbenga Ashafa, former Lagos East Senatorial District representative and current Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria, has urged the 500 beneficiaries of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA’s mega empowerment program to seize the opportunity to improve their lives and contribute to national progress. Ashafa made the call during the “Empowerment of 500 Residents and Grand Finale of Projects Commissioning” event on Wednesday, where he praised the Council Chairman Bada for her focus on empowering the community.

The empowerment initiative provided recipients with tools such as tricycles, vulcanizing machines, hair dryers, barbing kits with generators, grinding machines, sewing machines, POS machines with start-up capital, popcorn machines, and coolers with soft drinks. These resources, the council Chairman aims to foster economic independence among youths and women by supporting small business ventures.

In his speech, Senator Ashafa expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating, “With the way Nigeria is today, before the next one year, the country will be better for it.” He encouraged beneficiaries to view the tools as a foundation for growth, emphasizing their potential to transform lives when used effectively. His message underscored the importance of personal responsibility in maximizing such opportunities.

Ashafa also commended Mayoress Bada for balancing human empowerment with infrastructure development. The event featured the commissioning of key projects, including legislative quarters, a magistrate block, and a primary aid center, which he cited as evidence of her comprehensive approach to governance. His presence, alongside figures like Lagos State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi and former Executive Secretary Hon. Afolabi Kazeem (ABK), highlighted the program’s significance.

Drawing from his experience as a senator and federal official, Ashafa’s support reflects his ongoing dedication to Lagos residents’ welfare. His call to action serves as both inspiration and a challenge to beneficiaries, urging them to turn the tools into thriving enterprises that benefit their families and the wider Ikosi-Isheri community.
