The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has assured Lagosians that his administration is committed to providing rapid infrastructural development throughout the length and breath of the state.
Governor Ambode, who was represented at the event by the state commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Relations, Oluseye Oladejo gave the assurance on Monday, in Ikosi-Isheri council area, where he commissioned five roads constructed by the council and the Lagos State Government. Out of the five roads commissioned, two were constructed by the Afolabi led administration in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, they are Oladele and Shoyebi streets. The three other roads , Ademola Taiwo, Alamu Taiwo and Ogunsola streets were constructed by the Lagos State Government. Four out of the roads are inter connected and are located in Ketu axis of the council. The fifth road, Shoyebi is located in Isheri-Olowora axis of the council.
The Governor commended Lagosians for massively casting their votes for him. He added that the modest achievements his administration has been able to record in the last one year are in fulfillment of his campaign promises, and their support contributed largely to their actualization.
Ambode explained “before we assumed office, we promised you, Lagosians, that our government will be an all inclusive government, I am happy to tell you that we remain committed to this cause”. He continued “ to demonstrate this committement, our administration entered into collaboration with the 57 councils in the state, last year to construct 114 inner roads, with each of the councils constructing two roads, again, I am happy to inform you that construction work on all the roads will be completed by the end of June”.
The Governor added that the 114 roads project has rekindled the hope of Lagosians in our government. He commended all Executive Secretaries of the 57 councils for their cooperation and committement towards making the project a reality. He reminded Lagosians that it is their civic responsibility to pay their taxes and as such they should not shy away from paying their taxes as at when due.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Afolabi Kazeem stated that, the conviction that it is the statutory responsibility of government to provide social basic amenities for the people, motivated his administration to construct Oladele, Shoyebi and Ekiti roads. The council chief added that with availability of more fund, his administration will provide more good roads for the council residents. He expressed his appreciation to Governor Ambode for his committement to the development at the grassroot, and commended him for his exemplary leadership.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Senator Olorunibe Mamora,the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ambode on community development, Alhaji Tajudeen Quadri, Executive Secretary of Kosofe Local Government, Olakunle Ketiku, Executive Secretary of Agboyi- Ketu LCDA, Mrs Otualo Christy, traditional rulers, market and religious leaders, All Progressives Congress(APC) chieftains, top government officials and residents.
