The APC local government primaries have gone, but not with a number of discord. The Appeal Committee set up by the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress to address the appeals of aggrieved Councillorship and Chairmanship aspirants who are not happy with the conduct of the Saturday, 29 May, 2021 primary elections.
Appeal was filed by one of the aggrieved Chairmanship Aspirants, Hon Musiliu Aigoro, who had complained that the exercise in Kosofe did not conform with the guidelines laid down by the party, hence a winner should not have emerged.
The appeal committee’s ruling on the Aigoro petition was based on a report being circulated amongst party members, that the primary election in Kosofe LG did not comply with the party’s laid down guidelines and procedures.
In Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, petitions were filed by APC caretaker committee chairman, Hon Abiodun Oluwaseyi Odufowokan, caretaker secretary, Alhaji Abdullah Oyesanya and chairmanship aspirant, Loogun Oyekunle Jegede. In Oluwaseyi Odufowokan aka Seyi speaker’s submission, he alleged that no election took place in all the wards as election was marred by act of thuggery and gun shots. Petition specifically referred to ward (f) mile 12 market was written on behalf of all the councilorship Aspirants.
Alhaji Abdullah Ayodele Oyesanya’s allegation was against the incumbent chairman, Princess Samiat Bada. He claimed the incumbent’s use of thugs at the venue of the primaries, but the committee claims his evidence lacks jurisdiction, hence its dismissal.
The appeal committee claims there is no sufficient evidence to support the allegations contained in the petition submitted by Loogun Sunday Jegede. More so, the committee claimed to have conflicting authors of the petition. The Petition was dismissed on the basis of irregularities and incompetency.
