The APC primaries for aspirants who would emerge as candidates during the forthcoming Local Government polls come Saturday 24thof July, has degenerated into violence. Candidates and their supporters clashed with opponents leading to the attacks, ballot box snatching and damaging, shooting, thuggery amongst other violent activities.
In Ward G, a councillorship aspirant, Kikelomo Adegboyebo was allegedly beaten and disgraced by supporters of one of her opponents.
The case wasn’t different in wards A, B, C, D and F, it was a violence eroded party primaries all across the 7 wards of Ikosi-Isheri, ditto Kosofe.
The event of today buttresses the point being canvassed for by the Honourable Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, on the 15th of May, 2021, at a stakeholders engagement, at the CMD, Shangisha, that aspirants should eschew violence, campaign of calumny and adopt a consensus candidate ahead of today’s primaries.
