The Association of Practitioners of Community Media in Nigeria (APCOM) applauds the Lagos State Government for its swift condemnation of the “Igbo Must Go” campaign perpetuated by a blogger known as Lagospedia. This hateful and inciting rhetoric has no place in our society, and we commend the government’s proactive stance in addressing this issue.
However, we urge the government to take further action by setting up an investigation to identify and bring to justice the instigators of this harmful campaign. It is essential that those responsible face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others who may seek to propagate hate and division.
APCOM stands in solidarity with the Igbo community and all individuals who have been targeted by this vile campaign. We reiterate our commitment to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and community cohesion, and we will continue to work tirelessly to combat hate speech and promote peaceful coexistence.
We commend the Lagos State Government for its leadership in this matter and look forward to seeing concrete actions taken to address this issue. Together, we can build a society that values and respects the dignity of all individuals, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or background.
