The balcony of a story building containing 18 at No 9 Ali Close Mile 12 partially collapsed at about 8.45 am on Saturday 19th March, 2016. According to investigation and assessment conducted by the Agency’s ERT that the building had shown a sign of distress as some portion of the balcony was caving in. However full scale investigation as to the actual cause would be carried out by the relevant
government Agencies.  A 47 years old woman known as ‘Iya Ope’ sustained injuries and died on her way to the hospital, and no other casualty was recorded. The occupants of the 16 rooms building have been evacuated and the building condoned off for safety. Agencies on ground include LASEMA ERT, Lagos State Fire Service, the Nigerian Police Force, Alapere division and the LASAMBUS.  The LASEMA General Manager, Mr Michael Akindele advised the public to report cases of impending collapse building and other emergencies in the State for appropriate actions. Barrister Tunde Braimoh, the honourable representing Kosofe II at the Lagos State House of Assembly was on ground to commiserate with the occupants of the collapse building and also spoke with news men on the issue.
