The Child Protection Network (CPN) has called for the inclusion and safety of children during the celebration of the 2024 Children’s Day in Kosofe Local Government.
The celebration was vibrant and centered around the theme ‘Inclusion of Every Child’ on Saturday, June 8th, bringing together children, stakeholders, and distinguished guests for a day of learning, fun, and a renewed commitment to child safety.
Lagos State CPN Coordinator, Mrs. Aderonke Oyelakin, set a clear tone by emphasizing the importance of child safety.
Her message urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s well-being, while also encouraging young people to avoid behaviors that could hinder their future goals.
Recognizing the value of community vigilance, Mrs. Oyelakin implored everyone to be proactive in reporting any suspicious activity that might threaten children.
“When you see something, say something and do something,” she urged the audience.
The CPN, along with collaborating NGOs and local stakeholders, delivered an engaging and informative program to equip children and adults alike with the knowledge and tools to prevent and respond to child abuse in all its forms.
Schools from various parts of Kosofe Local Government participated in the event, injecting youthful energy into the celebration.
Among the notable institutions were New Ocean Comprehensive Secondary School, Precious God Kids Academy, and Mahd Ttaslleum Institute.
The celebration draws prominent guests from various sectors, highlighting the importance of a collaborative approach towards child protection.
The personalities included Alhaji Tunde Odutayo, Barrister Imoleayo Adesanya (representing Barrister Akinremi, CPN Kosofe Chapter Coordinator) from the Peculiar Queen Foundation, Omoba Awofeso Rasheed Ololade (CPN Lagos State Secretary), Mrs. Edu Adetoun (CEO, Progressive Widows Initiative Kosofe LGA and SSA to the Executive Chairman on Widows Affairs), W/ASP Ayisat Abdul (representing the Oworonshoki DPO), Mr. Bobade James (representing Kosofe CDC Chairman, Hon. Segun Babatunde), and Imam Olawale Mahrufdeen (Secretary, League of Imam Kosofe Zone).
This Children’s Day event in Kosofe served as a powerful reminder of the importance of child safety, inclusion, and nurturing a future generation of empowered and globally aware citizens.
