Kosofe Local Government just announced that residents within Kosofe LG will be under strict surveillance to combat the transmission of the pandemic disease, Corona Virus or known as Covid-19.

The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi who disclosed this during a joint Ministerial Press briefing on COVID19 intervention t that the COVID19 case identification campaign tagged the ‘Community Active Case Search’ which rcommenced on Monday 6th April and expected to run for two weeks in the first instance across the State.

He explained that health workers during this time will move from house to house including health facilities in pairs to administer electronic questionnaires to citizens. Abayomi added that the questions to be administered bothers on COVID19 symptoms.
 Taking a cue from the State, the Medical Officer of Health of the Kosofe Local Government, Dr Adenike Ofuntuase, noted in a statement that the aim of the survelliance is to track similiar people whom might have the symptoms familiar with Corona Virus. 

“We are doing active survelliance within our community. This simply means we  want to know if there are people with symptoms familiar to that of Corona Virus so that we can test them and be sure we are not transmitting the virus within the community.” She noted.!

The statement also expressed the effects of the lockdown imposed upon Lagos State in order to stop the transmission. Hence the best way to obliterate the virus is to tackle it through community.

“We have been on complete lockdown for 11 days, all borders are locked, no air travelling nor sea. The only way we can transmit the virus now is by community transmission.”

However, the  health officer implores the residents to co-operate with the representatives as they carry out the task  from one household to the other.
