The Sacred List

The All Progressives Congress, APC has recently been embroiled in crisis arising from the conduct of primaries for the nomination of chairmanship and councilor candidates for the July 22, Local Government polls

On Sunday, the party said it had submitted its approved candidates for the forthcoming Local Government elections to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC.

The announcement by the chairman of the Primary Election Panel, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi with the hope to bring an end to the agitation by some party members for the complete democratization of the nomination process. From the onset, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi proposed using Consensus Mechanism as the modus operandi for emergence of candidates. After this was agreed to, the LGA chairman of the APC Ikosi-Isheri LCDA was invited to the state secretariat on Acme road, Ogba, in person of Loogun Oyekunle Jegede, he was handed the forms of the consensus candidates alongside the list of successfully nominated candidates. In the tradition of the Ikosi-Isheri All progressives congress, facts and snapshots are always posted on the APC whatsapp page, in order to authenticate the list which was released by the state, the contrary was the case, instead

the LGA chairman resulted to announcing the names as desired, raising the hopes of some mandate candidates, who were not approved by the state, such cases are ward C candidate, Hon Rilwan Akinw

ale and ward F, Hon Alabi Esuola Sikiru, aka Elegusi. Since the release of this list, several group posters have been printed by both the justice forum and mandate groups using their preferred candidates on the posters. Loogun Oyekunle was mum during this period, he disappeared into thin air and even on the platform of the Ikosi-Isheri APC, and his phones were switched off. This act created chaos and obscurity among justice forum members who were disgruntled with the development.

In our journey of digging deep, Kosofe Inside-Out gathered from a reliable source at the state secretariat, Acme that the aggrieved councillors had petitioned the APC state chairman, in person of Hon Henry Ajomale, to seek redress to the issue, their request which was granted, saw the disgruntled members of the 2 justice forum candidates, Hon Adebola Abiodun Olalekan of ward C and Hon Biliameen Taliatu of ward F,  were handed new forms, as the LGA chairman hesitated in releasing their previously sent forms.
In our view, the APC at the state levels have complicated the issue earlier by failing to publish its consensus candidates list in newspapers as it used to, we know before now that such senstive information is usually published in Punch newspapers and The Nation respectively.
The drama which continued today 6th of July, 2017, at the Lasiec office when 9 councillors appeared in the 7 wards of Ikosi-Isheri for the Lasiec screening of candidates exercise. Hon Rilwan Akinwale of ward C and Hon Esuola Alabi Sikru aka Elegusi of ward F, both representing the mandate group respectively, were chased out of the Lasiec screening exercise by the APC state secretary, Hon Bamgbala and the state legal adviser, as they were said to be illegal candidates. We reported earlier that Hon Elegusi’s posters were torn at Mile 12 and its environs.

OBSERVATION: Is there any reason why there is mass defection in the APC, especially in Ikosi-Isheri? What we observed at Kosofe Inside-Out is that, all other parties flag bearers are disgruntled members who left the All Progressives Congress.
July 22 is about 2 weeks away, I doubt the APC is set for this election.
