Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba halted a run of two games without a win by securing a stunning 2-1 away win against Kano Pillars in their rescheduled matchday seven fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
It was the second away win of the campaign for the Aba giants who drew their last two games in the NPFL against Heartland and Lobi Stars.
The hosts went into the game in buoyant mood following last weekend’s away victory against Sunshine Stars.
They were in the ascendancy from the start and went into the lead in the 20th minute through Rabiu Ali.
The visitors’ best chance of the half fell to Abu Azeez but his goal-bound shot was saved by Pillars goalkeeper, Yusuf Mohammed.
Ali came close to scoring his second of the game two minutes before the break, but his effort was thwarted by Theophilus Afelokhai.
Enyimba started the second half brightly, pinning Pillars to their half.

They got the reward for their efforts on 51 minutes when Nzube Anaezemba stunned the home fans by grabbing the equalizing goal.
Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun, introduced Mfon Udoh in place of Daniel Etor 25 minutes before the end of the game in a bid to get the winning goal.
His side’s second goal of the day however came through an unlikely source, in the person of Ike ThankGod.
The centre-back scored the winning goal eight minutes before regulation time.
Femi Thomas replaced Afelokhai in the 83rd minute after the former Pillars goalie picked up an injury.
Azeez Shobowale came close to getting an equalizer for the hosts three minutes before the end of the game after he was put through by Ali, but he was wasted the chance.
Adamu Mohammed also hit the woodwork in the 93rd for Pillars as Enyimba defended stoutly in the end to secure an important win.
