Following the ascension of the former Vice-chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, to the position of the executive Chairman of the council, though it is termed unconstitutional, according to the guidelines of the local government administration act of 2015, it is essential to nominate or select a loyal and active member of the political party in power to fill the vacuum of the Vice-chairmanship position.

Today, Alhaji Mukaila Adisa, one of the APC party faithfuls is being sworn in as the Vice-chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. It was alleged that due consultations were not made during the selection process that made Alhaji Adisa emerge, the major stakeholders of Ikosi-Isheri, were not carried along, else, some privileged party members took the opportunity to consult leaders of the party at the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. Caucuses of Hon Rotimi Agunsoye, the Kosofe House of Representatives member, who is of the highest ranking officer in the LCDA shouldn’t be marginalized during the discussions. The first executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon Kunle Soname and the first executive secretary, Hon Afolabi Kazeem, ABK’s consent should have been sought, this is same for former house of Assembly member, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, not leaving out Hon Yacoob Balogun, whose influence at the state level can not be underrated. The erstwhile chairman of the council, late Hon Abdulfatai Oyesanya, who controls the structure of the party at the grassroots level too should have representatives when issues arise.

Last week, an Oyesanya loyalist, Sir Scribe,  cried out on how members of their group have been cut-out of all party negotiations in the short time that their leader’s status has changed. He lamented about the level of division that rocks the Ikosi-Isheri APC. Few days of her inauguration, the newly sworn-in chairman of the council, Princess Samiat Bada, has made a brilliant move in uniting all factions and all caucuses of the All Progressives Congress in Ikosi-Isheri, this she displayed on Sunday morning by inviting all stakeholders to a courtesy call. This is a good and democratic move, we hope this Will be replicated into all party affairs.
