Former Lagos State Audit board chairman and convener Women in Nigeria, Mrs Kafilat Ogbara, had just won the Kosofe APC House of Representatives primary election. It was observed that due to the violence marred APC House of Assembly, Constituency 1 primary election in Mende, security was heightened around the Ikosi Isheri council secretariat, venue of the  to maintain law and order. Officers  of the Ketu police Station, supported by the Area command at Ogudu are complemented with NSCDC, LSNC and DSS officials were all seen providing security for the House of Representatives primaries of Kosofe Federal constituency of the All Progressives Congress.

In a keenly contested primary election that held today, 27th May 2022 at the council secretariat of the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, contest was between five aspirants including the incumbent Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye. Agunsoye, who alongside Dayo Bush Alebiosu, a former House of Representatives two term legislator were absent at the exercise.

According to the returning officer, former APC state chairman, Fuad Oki, 50 delegates were supposed to participate in the primary election. However, 45 of them were accredited.

“The total number of accredited voters is 45, and Kafilat Adetola Ogbara got 44 votes, Remo Odunsi Oluwalogbon had  1, Rotimi Agunsoye had 0 vote, Dayo Bush Alebiosu had 0 vote and Abiodun Owokoya had 0 vote,” he said while declaring the result.

“Having satisfied all the requirements in our guidelines, I want to announce Kafilat A. Ogbara as our candidate after scoring the highest votes of 44.

“She is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

This development has further laid to rest the 3 direct campaign and counter claims from the ROT’s camp and their counterparts, who seek same position for their groups.

Ogbara, in her appreciation remarks,  thanked the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, GAC leaders, the 3 council chairmen, for their support. She extended her appreciation to the delegates, while noting that the delegates voted for her voluntarily without being paid. Her appreciation further goes to her teeming supporters and the Kosofe constituents, she promised that her victory is a call to service
