Corruption, they say is the blood of Nigerians, and until it is absolutely flushed out of the Nigerian system, peace can’t be experienced.
There is the case of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials, who are stationed at Ketu bus-stop, by the foot of the pedestrian bridge. The Lagos State KAI force has its KAI-maria van strategically parked while they arrest pedestrians who after being turned-back to make use of the pedestrian bridge, still end up risking their lives by making use of the high-way. They are more than just to arrest whoever falls a victim of finding himself in their wagon. Their modus operandi at Ketu bus stop is a laudable one, though they are being alleged of collecting bribes from culprits, it seems a justifiable means to punish ignorant ones, who  have turned crossing the highway into a habit.
It is apt to know and note that the major objective for the establishment of the Lagos State outfit known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KIA) is to eliminate all forms of street trading and hawking
, aside ensuring that Lagosians comply with environmental rules, but today the beginning of wisdom in Lagos State is the fear of KAI.
Ongoing reports by residents and victims have disclosed the activities of KAI officials transforming themselves into armless state militia, inflicting more hardship on tottering and anguished Lagosians who come out as a last resort to feign for selves
Reports have disclosed some activities of these officials in on Ikorodu road and even in markets as men of KAI collect money from traders including hawkers and roadside traders. they were originally established to eradicate, apart from collecting money ranging between N200 and N500 per week per trader which they do sometimes through the ‘Iya-Oja’ whose men transform into agents of KAI to harass and intimidate traders, they arrest and vandalise goods  in the process. The worse aspect, the traders complain, is that sometimes they would not allow the traders to start the day’s business before they stretch out hands for the official illegal money.
In this period of recession, the average Nigerian is seeking for what to eat. The hustle, the bustle seem endless with little in the pockets.
Let’s not forget in a rush, a recent case of chaos at the Maryland end of the Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, when a hawker was killed courtesy of the activities of KAI officials in the area, hence some hoodlums, protested the death of the hawker and vandalised no fewer than 15 state owned vehicles. The hawker, 22-year-old Nnamdi John, was crushed to death by a Nissan Pathfinder and a trailer while escaping from some officials of the agency. The officials were said to be returning from the Ojuelegba area, where they had gone for a raid and had stopped over at Maryland to round up hawkers and roadside traders in the area.
