Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Chairman, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada has embarked on a two days welfare package distribution, tagged ‘Operation Feed The Elderly, Widows and Vulnerable Initiative. The event which took place in several wards of the LCDA saw Ward A Isheri/Olowora, Ward B Shangisha-Magodo phase 1, Ward C Ikosi-Oke, and Ward D Orile Ikosi, on Thursday, 17th of August.

In her inauguration speech, the Mayoress, as she is popularly called, noted that her commitment to giving succour to the

people of her LCDA is in-born, which is also a gesture that aligns with her religious beliefs, which says giving from one’s blessings to the needy is like giving to the Almighty.

 

She further stated that her giving wasn’t masterminded by the negative effect of the removal of fuel subsidy, rather, it has been a consistent effort, since she assumed office. She said, “This initiative was not prompted by the recent removal of fuel subsidy; it has been in existence long before that. We provided assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will continue to support the masses because the fund belongs to the Government, not ours personally.”

The welfare packages consists of food items, such as Garri, Rice, Beans, and more. Bada further explained that her administration opted for a door-to-door distribution approach, going from one community to another. This approach is geared towards alleviating the burden of transportation expenses for the residents.


Olukokun Adepeju, founder Kokun foundation, Olayemi Omotolani Abeeb Lateef, CEO of Kolaq Alagbo, Gbenga Omotosho, former Lagos State Commissioner for Information Strategy, and other friends of the Executive Chairman, thronged out in their numbers to support her in the ward to ward distribution of palliatives to Ikosi-Isheri residents.

The residents applauded Mayoress Samiat Abolanle Bada for her continuous support for the welfare of her people. Madam Felicia Umoren, a beneficiary, who  lives in the Orisha community of Magodo phase 1, expressed her gratitude to the Executive Chairman, stated that the food package would go a long way to ameliorate the current economic hardship in the country.

 

The Chairman further pleaded with the residents to be patient with the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government, noted that the government is tirelessly working to make Nigeria work for the masses.
