A few days ago, Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe invited the House of Representatives candidate of his party, Mrs Kafilat Ogbara, to the commissioning of the newly constructed healthcare centre on Ohanu Street, in Oworonshoki. The faithfuls of the All Progressives Congress, APC, rolled out drums to celebrate another achievement of one of their own, though it was undertaken in partnership with Access Bank. Being campaign season, it is another project to brandish the efficiency and competence of members of their party has just been commissioned.

Just twenty four hours after the launch of the healthcare facility, some residents have taken to social media to air their displeasure about the project, stressed that the health facility is just and empty building and yet to be put to use. The Kosofe resident, by the name Orebola Oresanwo said ‘I heard this was supposed to be situated in Ifako. Primary health center without staff is just an empty building’, he concluded. We wondered why a health facility that isn’t fully operational would be commissioned in the first place.

These allegations prompted Kosofe Inside-Out (www.mykosofe.com) to reach out to the spokesperson of the Council Chairman, Mr Taiwo Fadipe, to confirm the status of the facility in question and to find out the position of the council on the matter. When contacted, Mr Fadipe simply said ‘go and verify’.

Our team took to the streets of Kosofe to ascertain the claims of residents, Orebola Oresanwo and one Jagaban of Abuja, who is a resident of Gbagada.

On getting to Ohuma street, around Olojojo area of Oworonshoki, where the facility is located, Kosofe Inside-Out found out that the newly launched health Centre is under lock and key, at about 2:17pm on Thursday.

We tried talking to residents who reside nearby to find out if the staff of the facility had closed for the day, at most, a government facility should not close before 4pm, especially, a health care Centre, which should close much later. A lady known as Kiki, who makes POS withdrawals around, disclosed to our correspondents that it was shut just immediately after commissioning, ‘they have not started work, because a student  that had Marwa (tricycle) accident this morning, they rushed her there, but they did not open, maybe they are still looking for people to come and work,’ she concluded.
