In preparation for the forthcoming Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Elections, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations, Dr. Olorunimbe Mamora, convened another Stakeholders meeting for political leaders, past and present public office holders in Kosofe local government.

 

The meeting which was held at the Dora Hall, Centre for Management and Development, Shangisha, Lagos on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

The greater Kosofe stakeholders’ meeting this time boasted of the presence of the party bigwigs, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Chairman of KC Gaming, Value Jet and Remo Stars FC, Honourable Kunle Soname, Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, Honourable K. K Eleshin, former Executive Secretary of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Alhaji Afolabi Kazeem, former Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Vice-Chairman, Princess Bola Kazeem and other past and present public office holders and ward leaders.

 

In his remarks, Senator Mamora, who chaired the occasion urged APC Stakeholders to work assiduously, in order to achieve victory at the forthcoming gubernatorial polls. This, he said, does not negate the fact that there are internal crisis to be resolved.

 

Senator Mamora further outlined a few points that he believed marred the negative outcome of election results and promised party faithfuls that the below key points would be addressed after the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections.

  1. The aftermath of Endsars
  2. Fuel scarcity
  3. Naira redesign coming at the wrong time.
  4. Internal party crisis
  5. Warped party reward system
  6. Arrogance and impunity of serving public office holders.

Party faithfuls made suggestions and contributions as to how the party would revive its diminishing image in the forthcoming Gubernatorial and State Assembly polls, ditto charted a strategy to be ahead of their game during the now postponed March 18 elections.

Senator Ashafa appealed to members not to be aggrieved at the current nosedive of the party in Kosofe, he however promised that the leadership would return to the drawing board to properly lay out plans for the welfare of party faithfuls.

 


Honourable Soname implored attendees to bury the hatchet and focus on the elections. In his words, “I think the time is too short, let’s bury all hatchets until we achieve our aims. We can revisit these issues afterwards. The population of the highest votes casted at the last election was mainly the youths, our party have youths too, our youths can engage their peers. Let’s all engage and convince people with the achievements of the Governor.” He concluded.

 

Princess Bola Kazeem implored the Senators to own up to the responsibility of taking the foot soldiers of the party seriously. “ Our party should have a way of reaching out to members randomly and intermittently”, she said.

Mamora urged attendees not to allow Lagos slip from the hands of the APC, such that inexperienced hands would take over the complexities of the demographies of Lagos. He further mention that Lagos, being the 5th largest economy in Africa contributes the highest GDP to the economy of the country. The minister reminded party faithfuls of the merits of aligning Lagos again with the centre.

Mamora disclosed that logistical provisions had been made available, in order to motivate members to turn up and be at their best while carrying out their electoral duties for the party ahead of the March 18 polls.

 

The event, which was geared towards mobilization of party members ahead of the gubernatorial and state assembly elections, commenced at exactly 4:22pm, as anchored by the Special Adviser to the Speaker of House of Representatives, Honourable Ibrahim Ladega, also had in attendance former Executive Secretary of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon Tunji Ilelaboye, former Agboyi-Ketu Vice Chairman, Hon Mufa Okusi, former Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adisa, former Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Vice-Chairman, Chief (Mrs) Abiodun Martins, former Agboyi-Ketu Sole Administrator, Honourable Christy Otuyalo and Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Vice-Chairman, Hon Yinka Ogunleye, aspirant for the seat of Kosofe House of Representatives in the just concluded election, Honourable Abiodun Awokoya and aspirant for the seat of Kosofe House of Representatives, Honourable Remi Oluwalogbon-Odunsi, amongst others, was laid to rest at 6:57pm.
