Lions Club International District 404-B2 Nigeria, Lagos, Ikeja LASUTH Lions Club has inaugurated Lion Afolabi Folasade as its 3rd President to direct the affairs of the club for the next one year, as well as other executive positions during the investiture ceremony in Ikeja, Lagos.

Afolabi, who took over from Lion Tariela Oladipupo said that “Our  plan will target our club objectives, evaluate the present status and focus on how to fulfill our club objectives by doing more for humanity.”

In a ten minutes speech presented by the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Professor Adetokunbo Fabanwo, eulogized the newly installed Lion’s Club President, Folasade, and her association of selfless individuals and guaranteed them the management’s support. In his words, he said “Ikeja Lasuth lions club is a formidable organization and we are particularly and emotionally attached to it because it is an institutional Lion’s club and so as the Chief Medical Director of that institution, “I have a lot of interest in the club. I think they have been in existence for about three years, I knew when they came into existence, they have done commendably well in partnering with the hospital to upgrade its services.” Professor Fabanwo further showered praises of the President’s spouse, Hon. Afolabi Kazeem, he noted that Hon. Afolabi is very diligent and has excelled in his chosen field (quantity surveying) and he is very supportive of his wife.

In his goodwill message, the District Governor, Lion Aare Lekan Owolabi, congratulated the newly inaugurated  president and charged her on discharging her duties according the theme of the year, ’Service Redefined; for a greater impact! He urged Lion Afolabi Folasade to continue to redefine service to improve the impact in their immediate environment and also create value for members, while working towards achieving their set goals for the year, as a team leader and player.

He said: “The club is the most fundamental unit of our association and the direct link with our cherished communities. The leadership of your club is a great task, which you should carry out diligently. Your club members have found you worthy to lead them in this  Service Redefined Year. In  this position, it is your duty to ensure that you and your club succeed in meeting the needs of your community and serve the underprivileged therein, bearing in mind our five focal areas of service, namely vision, hunger alleviation, environment protection, fight against diabetes and fight against paediatric cancer. I assure you of my support and that of the district in your strive to meet your goals for the service year.”

 

Medical equipment

In her farewell speech, the immediate past president, Lion Tariela Oladipupo, thanked members for giving her the opportunity to serve and pledged her support to the newly inaugurated President, saying: “I wish you well in the year ahead, I have done my bit for the Club, I am glad that we achieved our best, I promise to support the new administration wherever you need my input.”

 

Medical equipment donated by the newly installed President, Lion Afolabi Folasade

The newly inaugurated President, Lion Afolabi Folasade, made a donation of N15 million Naira worth of medical equipment in the name of the Lion’s club to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), through the Chief Medical Director, Professor Adetokunbo Fabanwo at the March 4, 2023 investiture ceremony.

Lion Afolabi noted the need to make healthcare affordable and accessible to the public, she implored the government to take a critical look at the medical centres, while also increase the budget for healthcare in order to save the citizenry.

The Chairman of the event, Mr Kunle Soname, represented, who donated N10 million worth of medical equipment was presented an award for his selfless service to humanity.
