Thursday, 18th of August 2022 saw tons of All Progressives Congress’ faithfuls flood Ekiti Street, the venue of the party’s secretariat, for the periodic LGA meetings.
The meeting was chaired and moderated by the new chairman, Alhaji Sulaiman Olatunbosun Alli. Alli welcomed members back to meetings while preaching togetherness, peace, and steadfastness.
Mrs. Abiodun Martins disclosed to members to see themselves as one, she further noted that members should understand that groups/caucuses which used to exist amongst the same political party should be seen as though they were never there in the first place, and the party is one.
Speaking to members at the meeting, the Council Vice-Chairman, Hon. Yinka Ogunleye aka Kakaraka, praised the Council Chairman, Princess Samiat Bada to the high heavens, noting that his boss has performed excellently well in delivering the dividends of democracy to the Ikosi-Isheri people. He further stated that the good works of the Mayoress are enough to go to the campaigns again and win the hearts of the people, ahead of the 2023 elections.
Alli, while chairing the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA/ LGA meeting delivered the Council Chairman’s monthly stipends of N5,000 each to party members, though with a caveat of ‘no collection by proxy, he noted that his reason for the caution was to discourage absentees at future LGA meetings.
Speaking to pressmen after the meeting, Alhaji Alli, as he is fondly called, expressed his fulfillment being the LGA chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, after three failed attempts. He further stated that he learned quite a lot of conflict resolutions and members’ management mechanisms from the State’s organized just concluded One-day seminar for LGA chairmen, whose attendance further clarifies his authenticity as Chairman of the party in Ikosi-Isheri.
When asked about steps taken to make peace with dissatisfied members of the party, Alli said “we have extended our hands of fellowship to them to return, we have pleaded with their leaders to join hands in making peace with their followers, we have also made them realized that this is not Alli’s party, the party belongs to all of us. We need everyone on board to move forward together. You would have observed the results of our efforts at this meeting, our last few meetings were not as crowded as this. I thank all members for putting the interest of the party forward before anything else.” He concluded.
