The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Honourable Femi Saheed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Kosofe Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Dr Felix Awosika, the INEC Returning Officer, declared at the early hours of Sunday, 19th of March, at the Collation Centre in Kosofe.

The returning officer, Doctor Awosika, said that the APC candidate polled 31,690 votes to beat his closest rival, Adeyemi Hammed Babatunde , of the Labour Party (LP), who had 13,038 votes in the 18 March State Assembly elections.

Awosika said Balogun Ibrahim Adebiyi of the PDP polled 2,586, while Mohammed Moroof Adeleye of the SDP polled 1,396  votes, Bakare Babajide Badejoko of the NNPP polled 318, Onigbinde Ayoola Samuel of the ADC polled 262, Olowofo Chlsera Esther of the ADP polled 92, Adekoja Ibraheem Akorede of the APP polled 38, Adekoya Wasiu Obasola of the AAC polled 36, Aguda Olatunbosun of the BP polled 27 and  Opeyemi Esther of the AA polled 09, respectively.

“Saheed Wasiu Obafemi of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, has scored the highest number of votes, is at this moment declared the winner and returned elected,” Dr Awosika said.

 

Reacting to his re-election, Hon. Femi Saheed expressed his gratitude to the people of Kosofe Constituency II, for bestowing their trust in him once again. Recall that Hon. Femi Saheed became a lawmaker through a bye-election conducted in December 2020, to complete the tenure of Kosofe lawmaker, who passed on in July 2020, Barrister Tunde Braimoh.

Hon. Femi Saheed promised the people of Constituency II that he will continue to strive to bring developments to their communities as such making their lives better.
