The saying, “Knowledge is Power” seem the watchword of the Executive Chairman of Kosofe local government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, as he embarked on another distribution of 300 units of General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms. Recall that a year ago, same Ogunlewe distributed 150 GCE forms and other educational support materials to encourage young university admission seekers in Kosofe.
The honourable chairman presented the forms to indigent beneficiaries at the council secretariat on Thursday, 1st of September, 2022.
In his keynote address, the council Chairman noted that his administration placed a great value on the education of the youth and as such would not play politics with it.
He, therefore, assured that his administration would continue to dish out educational programmes that would be beneficial to the admission seekers irrespective of their social status.
“This Administration sees education and health as very key in our society which must be insulated from politics. What l am saying is that education just like health care is just too precious to play politics with. Health care of our people is very important and Education of our youths likewise is indispensable. That is why we give priority to the two and they will continue to get the lion’s shares in our annual budget.
“Today’s memorable event, the distribution of free 300 General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to our lucky candidates selected after rigorous screening, the second in the series is the legacy we must and will pursue with uncommon zeal. Our resolve to redefine education here in our dear local government is as sure as the coming of tomorrow. To buttress this determination, we have embarked on some projects that will further give elevation to our public primary Schools here in Kosofe. To God be the glory, we are currently reconstructing Mosafejo Primary School building so that our Pupils could learn in a conducive environment.
“Emmanuel Primary School, here at ogudu will be a lucky recipient of an Electronic library (E-library). All the public primary schools here in Kosofe will be equipped with the latest information Communication Technology (ICT), to make our pupils computer literate at the formative stage of their lives. This Administration will also distribute to our learners, “welcome back to school” packs, such as school bags, exercise books, and uniforms among others. We shall, in addition, delve into general schools’ rehabilitation and in addition give scholarships and bursary awards”, Ogunlewe said.
He, however, commended SOHCAHTOA foundation for joining hands with the local government in presenting additional 150 free GCE forms to indigent students in Kosofe Local Government.
The Chief Executive Officer and the co-founder of the foundation, Mrs. Solape Fayemi quoting Carol Burnet, that if you have a dream, grab it, urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity offered by the free GCE and coaching to excel at the examination.
The leader of the legislative arm, Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Idowu Oluloro praised the Executive Chairman for his love for Education and thanked the SOHCAHTOA foundation for donating additional 150 forms to the Council.
 He charged the students to go out and make the Council proud at the examination.
 The Secretary to the local government Hon. Fatai Gbadebo urged the beneficiary students to take their education seriously if they want to achieve their dreams.
The Head of Administration, Mrs. Adetokunbo Ogabi said they used cost-effective methods and impartiality to select the lucky candidates and advise them to justify the investment on them.
