A yet-to-be identified young girl has been reported killed by stray bullet as police shot to disperse Yoruba Nation agitators at Ojota.

The girl was said to be hawking goods while protesters gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi park seeking independence of predominantly ethnic-Yoruba states in Nigeria’s southwest.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had earlier addressed journalists at the venue saying no rally is allowed in Lagos.

However, some Yoruba nation agitators dared the security operatives by spreading banners and flyers to announce their arrival and presence.

Not longer after, shots were fired and hot water from an armoured tank was sprayed to disperse them.
