Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has distributed over 8,500 food packs to households across the Lagos East Senatorial District in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir. The beneficiaries, drawn from Kosofe LG, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and 13 other Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within the Lagos East district, gathered enthusiastically at designated distribution points in their respective communities to receive the food packs.

This kind gesture follows closely on the heels of Senator Abiru’s recent distribution of over 10,000 food packs, which took place just 90 days ago in commemoration of his 60th birthday. The continued support underscores Senator Abiru’s unwavering commitment to alleviating hunger and providing for the vulnerable in his constituency

In his goodwill message to the constituents, Senator Abiru, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, and Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum, reaffirmed his dedication to enacting laws, creating programs, and initiating interventions aimed at improving the quality of life for his constituents and all Nigerians. He acknowledged the current economic challenges, particularly the high cost of staple foods during the festive season, and urged patience with the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that the administration’s far-reaching policies would soon yield positive results.

Senator Abiru stated: “I understand the economic difficulties many are facing, especially during this festive season. However, I urge everyone to remain patient and supportive of the government’s efforts under President Tinubu. The measures being put in place will soon start delivering the desired outcomes.”

The Eid-el-Kabir food pack distribution is part of a series of humanitarian initiatives by Senator Abiru, aimed at mitigating the impact of economic hardship on Kosofe and other Lagos East residents. The program is designed to complement other federal and state government interventions aimed at ensuring food security, stabilizing commodity prices, and providing relief to the most vulnerable.

It is noteworthy that Senator Abiru has a history of direct humanitarian assistance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he disbursed over N150 million to more than 2,500 vulnerable individuals through his Financial Relief Scheme. Beneficiaries received monthly credits of N5,000 each over the duration of the program, significantly aiding them during a period of widespread economic disruption

The distribution of the food packs is intended to bring joy and relief to the residents of Kosofe and the remaining parts of the Lagos East, ensuring they can celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with happiness and dignity. The initiative has been met with widespread appreciation from the beneficiaries, who expressed their gratitude for the continued support from Senator Abiru.

Mrs. Aisha Akinlade, a beneficiary from Ikorodu, shared: “This food pack means so much to my family. It will help us celebrate Eid with joy and less worry about our next meal. We are very grateful to Senator Abiru for always thinking of us.”

Senator Tokunbo Abiru’s commitment to his constituents through initiatives like the Eid-el-Kabir food pack distribution exemplifies his dedication to improving the lives of Lagos East residents. As the community celebrates the festive season, these acts of kindness ensure that even the most vulnerable can partake in the joy and spirit of Eid-el-Kabir.
