Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the Vice President, commissioned the state-of-the-art Ikosi-Isheri Ultra-Modern Primary Health Centre in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The event, held just three days before the council elections on July 12, 2025, underscores the facility’s significance, with Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the incumbent Chairman and APC candidate, leading the unveiling.

The 105-bed health centre, the largest of its kind in Nigeria by size and equipment, spans over 5,000 square meters and features 25 specialized units. These include a mini theatre with precision equipment, a radiology room with automated ECG systems, a fully equipped ICU, international-standard wards, a dedicated family planning clinic, a DOT room, child welfare section, a laboratory, ANC, and an on-site ambulance point. The facility also boasts laser surgery tools, digital monitors, gynaecology beds, incubators, radiant warmers, auto-chemistry analyzers, and electrophoresis machines, rivaling private hospitals. A 24/7 air-conditioned multipurpose hall supports outreach and staff development, powered by reliable electricity.

Senator Tinubu, in her address, aligned the project with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing the health and wellbeing of Nigerians, especially women and children. She commended Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada for her people-centered governance, stating, “This centre is a beacon of hope for mothers, children, the elderly, and the vulnerable. True progress begins when healthcare is a right, not a privilege.” She urged stakeholders to preserve the facility for future generations and thanked the council for naming it in her honor.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, calling her a “mayoress of their time” and highlighting development at the local government level. “This high-powered delegation from Abuja shows Ikosi-Isheri’s importance,” he said, noting his third visit to the council as a sign of her effective leadership.

Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, in her welcome address, described the centre as a legacy of compassion and competence, inspired by Tinubu’s decades-long leadership from her time as Lagos First Lady to her current role. She emphasized its economic and medical impact, aligning with the 2027 Agenda and the APC’s 2023 victory in Kosofe. “From my first month, empowerment initiatives for the vulnerable have been a tradition, reflected in this facility’s substance,” she added.

The ceremony, attended by community leaders and residents, marks a pivotal moment as Ikosi-Isheri prepares for the upcoming elections.
