Sterling Bank, Ketu Branch
The Sterling Bank located at Iyana School bus stop, Kosofe, have left the  Ketu-Mile 12 community lament, in the last few days. The complains contributes to the recent desertion of this particular branch.
It was observed that out of two, only one of the automated teller machines (ATM), located at the
entrance of the new generation bank dispenses cash, while this isn’t the issue, the functioning ATM which pays cash to customers is being compromised and used to withhold cards of customers
This development was critically observed by the Kosofe Inside-Out’s  social media manager, Lekan Lawal, who wanted to find out the reason behind the outcry of the people. Lawal went to make use of the paying ATM, it paid, but as expected, seized his GTbank card. The next customer who used his Sterling bank card too had his card withheld.

Efforts made to retrieving the card proved abortive, as the security man who was attached to the bank told our correspondent to forget his card. In his words, ‘Oga, your card don go o, we no dey give people their card, if na from another bank‘. Coincidentally, while still trying to slug it out with the
security officer, a staff f the bank presumed to be the ATM attendant, brought out the Sterling card for the owner, when asked about gtbank card, he noted that he couldn’t bring the card, and that the owner should go and complain at his bank.

With the response from the banker, one begins to wonder if it is a conspiracy, else, why should there
be sacred cows with the usage of bank ATMs?
Though, the Central bank,  the regulatory body for banks, is at the fore-front of carrying out this evil act, which subjects bank customers to multiple payments on unused cards.

The Central Bank of Nigeria directed Deposit Money Banks to henceforth destroy Automated Teller Machine cards trapped in their ATM terminals. The CBN guidelines read, “Any trapped card in the ATM shall be rendered unusable (by perforation) by the acquirer and returned to the issuer on the next working day.
