Senator Gbenga Ashafa
Senator Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa, the Lagos-East representative at the hallowed red chambers of the National Assembly between 2011 and 2018, celebrates the Eid-el Kabir festival with fellow Muslims and constituents.

The Senator, whose gifts was coordinated in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA by Hon. Oromidayo Balogun noted in his earlier Eid-el Kabir message that Muslim faithfuls should imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and togetherness at all times. Ashafa’s return to the Senate, as a replacement for the late Senator Bayo Osinowo, in the upcoming bye-elections, have been debunked by aides and close associates.
Senator Ashafa followed the Quran’s modus of celebration, by sharing meat, cash gifts and other goodies with the vulnerable people who request for aid, as well as journalists who he thought people would rather see as doing their jobs, and won’t deem worthy of the gifts.
In this part of the world, people don’t regard journalists as members of the community who undergo same constraints as every other member of the community. It was recalled that during the Covid-19 lockdown, a few members of the community deemed it necessary to reach out to the Kosofe League of Journalists, to give them palliatives, former Executive Secretary of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon. Abk Afolabi, former Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Chairman, Hon. Kunle Soname and the convener, Vanguard for Good Governance, Hon. Oromidayo Balogun, are the few individuals who remember the media, who go out of their way to bring information and sanity to the community.
